School management is a peaceful environment
During the seven-year program beginning in Term 4, students not only become proficient in the subjects at the end of Term 10 to meet the needs of the ICSE exam, but also become familiar with the arts and crafts, traditional music and dance. The well-stocked library with carefully selected books ensures ample opportunity for reading. Well-equipped laboratories, computer facilities, and audiovisual equipment are resources that further enrich learning. Although the school does not encourage competition as it is currently accepted by the community, it strives to create an environment in which students can excel. Classes are intentionally small to provide close contact between teacher and students as student motivation and participation becomes essential. The expectation of etiquette, kindness, and mutual respect helps create an environment in which students can take the initiative necessary for active learning. But above all, it is the vast landscape in which the school is located that provides an environment that invites outside exploration and inner inquiry, inspiring students to transcend everyday life that values peace. Biodiversity on campus
As you walk around campus, the campus biodiversity is vibrant. It is interesting to note that the variety is found at different levels of habitat, climate, species, landscape, and cultivation. As part of the Science and EVS curriculum, outdoor exploration is an integral part of campus biodiversity learning processes throughout the year. Children study trees, seasonal wild grasses, cultivated crops, insects and other wildlife in their delicate habitats. The nature club at Sahyadri School is an open space for children to communicate and learn about the biodiversity present on campus in the different seasons. . Over the years, it has primarily been a place to discover and study occasional sightings of birds, insects, other arthropods, fungi, and other animals. In addition to species identification, it also provides an opportunity to learn about the various correlations between behavior, habitat, flora and fauna within animals, and to closely monitor population trends. Sahyadri has focused a lot on helping children connect with nature, which we call “hands on earth” education. It teaches children the skills they need to get their food on the ground, putting them in a position to challenge systems that promote market dependency, alongside the rich skill sets of rural communities. Natural farming is one of the many ways to form an unbreakable relationship with nature. The idea is that children learn to work with the land by participating in earth care projects. One such initiative on campus, called Paroporna Mandala, is a specially developed pie chart, implemented and maintained by students with few teachers, i.e. a small peasant family or to complete the community.
